Courtney Brooke - Design Process

Custom, One-of-a-Kind Wedding Gown Process

  • Consultation: The designer meets with the client to discuss the client’s interests, wedding theme, and what she wants to look like on her wedding day. The client is then asked to send the designer magazine or image tear sheets for gowns they like.
  • Sketching: The designer sketches several designs with the clients images and interests in mind, while only designing one-of-a-kind, original gowns. The client then chooses the design that is perfect for her and is measured.
  • Muslin Fitting: After the gown is designed and chosen the dress is draped on a mannequin that is the clients exact measuments, a pattern is made, and a muslin (a mock up of the gown in cotton fabric) is made. The client is then fitted in the muslin for the basic shape and styling.
  • Fabrics and Details: CourtneyBrooke only uses the highest quality fabrics, including silk dupioni, silk habatai linings, and silk charmeuse. The details will be discussed at sketching, but can be added at any time. Details can include hand embroidery, authentic south sea pearl beading, hand pleating, or any other technique requested. Custom gowns are totally customizable.

  • Fittings: Several fittings in the actual fabric will be done to ensure the perfect fit. The final fitting will be several months before the wedding and will be discussed at the consultation.
  • Ready to Wear and Made-to-Order Gowns

  • Consultation: The client meets with the designer to look through lookbooks to determine which dress is the one for her. At that time the client is measured to find the correct size.
  • Fabrics and Details: CourtneyBrooke only uses the highest quality fabrics, including silk dupioni, silk habatai linings, and silk charmeuse. The details are standard, but can be altered at the client’s wishing; however, this will be an additional charge.
  • Fittings: Once the gown is constructed a fitting will be conducted to properly fit the gown for the correct size. A final fitting will be several months before the wedding for a perfect fit.
